The images here will fade and become blurrier if the population inches closer to extinction.
By taking action, there is an opportunity to prevent further damage and help restore these populations.
This is an ongoing experimental project inspired by the work done for WWF Japan by Hakuhodo C&D and creative directors Nami Hoshino, Yoshiyuki Mikami, and designer Kauhiro Mochizuki. This project, and the project shown here aims to visualize the populations of endangered and vulnerable species as a function of its image, with each pixel representing a single animal; as the population numbers rise and fall the image will either become more legible or disappear completely.
